Berlin besitzt – wie keine andere Stadt – eine enorme Anziehungskraft auf junge Künstler aus allen Teilen der Welt. Für diese Szene steht die BERLINER LISTE: Mit einem sicheren Gespür für die Auswahl zeitgemäßer Aussteller avancierte die BERLINER LISTE in den letzten Jahren zu einem Seismographen für zeitgenössische Tendenzen.

Seit der Gründung 2004, als Ergänzung zum ART FORUM, versteht sich die BERLINER LISTE als innovative „Entdecker-Messe“ für junge Talente. Alljährlich wechselt die Messe die Location und füllt in Vergessenheit geratene Orte mit neuem Leben. So zählten in den Vorjahren bereits das Umspannwerk in der Kopenhagenerstraße am Prenzlauer Berg (ehemals Vitra Design Museum) und der Postbahnhof am Gleisdreieck zu den besonderen Messe-Locations der BERLINER LISTE. Zum 5-jährigen Jubiläum 2008 zog die BERLINER LISTE ins Haus Cumberland, ein leer stehendes, ehemaliges 5-Sterne Luxushotel am Kurfürstendamm.

Die Jubiläumsausgabe 2008 war der bisher größte Erfolg: Rund 15.000 internationale Kuratoren, Sammler und Kunstenthusiasten, darunter alleine 450 akkreditierte Journalisten kamen zur LISTE. 74 Galerien zeigten auf mehr als 4000qm ihre Kunst. Damit ist die BERLINER LISTE nach dem Artforum die zweitgrößte Kunstmesse Berlins. Anerkannt von Presse und Publikum hat sie sich mittlerweile als innovative Entdeckermesse eine feste Position in der internationalen Kunstszene erobert.

Auch die neue Sektion Fotografie war ein großer Erfolg. 10 Galerien zeigten zum ersten mal gebündelt ausschließlich Fotografie und konnten zahlreiche Fotosammler auf der BERLINER LISTE begrüßen. 2009 werden wir die Fotografie-Sektion noch erweitern und auf der gesamten Messe das Networking zwischen den Galerien fördern.

Like no other city, Berlin has an extremely strong attraction for young artists from all over the world. The BERLINER LISTE represents this scene, and with a sure flair for selecting contemporary exhibitors in the last few years the fair has advanced to become a seismograph for contemporary trends.

Since it was established in 2004 to complement the ART FORUM, the BERLINER LISTE has positioned itself as an innovative "fair of discovery" for young talents. The fair is held in a different location each year and fills places that have fallen into oblivion with new life. Special venues for the BERLINER LISTE in previous years have included the former transformer station Umspannwerk in Kopenhagener Straße in the Prenzlauer Berg district (formerly the Vitra Design Museum) and the former post office station Postbahnhof at the rail triangle. On its fifth anniversary in 2008 the BERLINER LISTE took up residence in Haus Cumberland, a vacant former 5-star luxury hotel on Kurfürstendamm.

The 2008 anniversary edition was the greatest success to date: around 15,000 international curators, collectors and art enthusiasts including 450 accredited journalists came to the LISTE. 74 galleries exhibited their art on an area of more than 4000m2. This makes the BERLINER LISTE Berlin's second largest art fair after ART FORUM. Recognised by the press and the public, it has now become firmly established in the international art scene as an innovative fair of discovery.

The new photography section was also a resounding success. For the first time, 10 galleries exhibited photography only and were able to welcome numerous photograph collectors to the BERLINER LISTE. In 2009 we will further expand the photography section and promote networking between galleries at the whole fair.
