Danilo BuccellaDanilo Buccella was born in 1974 in Liestal, Switzerland.He lives and works in Milan, Italy, where he is one of the featured young artists of new figurative generation. In his paintings, made with old masters’ style by sails, he mixes the old masters’ lesson with contemporary atmospheres, the light and shade of Caravaggio with his sensibility, very actual. He mixes his nightmare images, as Bosch or Bruegel, with tipical vision of the modern cinema. With a big exercise of style, Buccella works with a palette of dark colors to create a gallery of worrying characters, that reminds to the suspense of Hitchcock’s or Cronenberg’s films. Looking at these characters, everyone inquires after these black figures: who are them? Did they do something yet ? or are they on the point to? Victims or persecutors? Are these young girls guilties or innocents? They are like contemporary ghosts, painted in old big rooms wrapped in a dim light, well furnished by old library and old parquets and leather sofas. | |
